Barry formed Building Cladding Services (BCS) after spending 3 ½ years as co-owner and Principal, Glazing & Wall Systems for Hixson Smith Consultants, Inc. In this recent capacity, he consulted to owners, architects, general contractors, property managers, specialty contractors, attorneys, and insurers relating to virtually all types of wall cladding systems. A majority of the time was spent in the assessment and investigation of building exteriors to solve leak and deterioration problems. Previous to that, he was Associate for BauTech, Inc., serving for 8 years providing management of curtainwall CAD drawings, application design, and consulting on exterior cladding systems on large commercial and governmental projects. Barry spent another four years with Systems Q/C in Houston as Projects Director providing similar services to large commercial projects. He has also worked for Curtainwall Design and Consulting (CDC) in Dallas, and started his career in 1980 with a large storefront and curtainwall manufacturer.

Barry has experience with virtually all aspects of the custom curtainwall project including system and application design, full-scale laboratory mock-up testing, field testing, production shop and fabrication drawings, on-site pre-installation and progress meetings, and on-site QA monitoring of work. His experience with leak investigation includes an understanding of failure mechanisms such as material deterioration, original construction deficiencies, building movements, inappropriate previous repairs, and offers remedial solution options based on budget, disruption, and expected service life of repairs.

Along with the strong background in curtainwall application design and consulting on projects all over the world, the last several years have been dedicated to studying and consulting on masonry, EIFS, stucco, sealants, and coatings. Barry has passed the testing to achieve certifications as a Certified Construction Specifier and a Certified Construction Contract Administrator from the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), and a Third-Party EIFS Inspector from the Exterior Design Institute (EDI). He is a member of Construction Specification Institute (CSI), the Glass Association of North America (GANA), and the International Code Council (ICC).
